We are currently improving our system to make it a bit more automated. This shouldn’t take much longer. After we are done the updates should be available not too long after they are provided by CMS. Thanks for everybody’s patience.

Update (April 27th, 2012)

All of the Medicare cost reports for SNFs and Hospitals have been updated to the latest available CMS HCRIS data. We have also improved our update process and any future data updates should be completed very shortly after CMS releases the data.

Minnesota Medicaid Cost Report Data Added

We have just finished loading Minnesota’s FY 2010 Medicaid cost report database into Myhealthcaresource. MN’s data contains a lot of information about beds, patient days, and RUGS. There are many more reports that should be useful to anyone working with facilities in MN.

This will probably be the last Medicaid state’s data updated for a while as we are focusing on some new features as well as updating all of the Medicare cost reports for SNFs and hospitals.

In addition to the recent additions of CA and OH we have added Oklahoma’s state Medicaid data to the site. It does not include as much information as some other states, but the information is does have seems very useful for most of our customer’s purposes. There are extensive salary reports, costs paid for contract services, patient days, and many others.

California and Ohio Medicaid Cost Report Data Added

For about a year now we have had a partial extraction from the California and Ohio Medicaid cost reports. This was because we had done client work in which we needed to pull data from these reports, but we didn’t have enough time to add them to the primary site. In the past few weeks we have finally finished adding the data from the CA and OH Medicaid cost reports. They contain a lot of useful information. Ohio might now be one of our most detailed states.

We are working hard to add more Medicaid data when we have a chance. The states on the horizon currently are Arkansas, Massachusetts, and Minnesota. Some states we have worked with in the past, such as Texas, do not contain enough information to justify the time that is required for us to load the data into Myhealthcaresource.

We hope that some of our existing users who work across multiple states will find this information useful. We also look forward to working with new clients who sign up for these new states.

New Jersey Medicaid Data Update

Wednesday, March 14, 2012 17:08
Posted in category Site Updates

For the fiscal year 2010 NJ changed their system from a standalone Medicaid cost report to a combination of the federal Medicare cost report and a supplemental Medicaid cost report.

We have handled this by extracting fields from our database of federal Medicare cost reports and combined this with the supplemental data provided by NJ Medicaid. We have tried to label the data provided by NJ Medicaid so that it is apparent. Because of this, we now have a field on one of the reports that specifies which FY period the facility’s Medicare report was from as well as which FY its Medicaid report is from. There might be cases where these are not the same because we are combining the data using our existing database. It is important to keep this in mind when browsing through the data.

Hospital Medicare Cost Report Data & New Site Design

It has been a long time coming but it has finally arrived. Myhealthcaresource.com for hospital data is now available and our initial offering focuses on hospital Medicare cost reports. In the near future that will also include selected extracted reports from the cost reports and other data sets.  Hospital cost reports can be purchased for $55 each and pretty soon financial indicators can be unlocked for a facility for $99.

Another huge step for us is we totally redesigned our site. Users that have accounts now have a user dashboard to manage their purchases and their favorite facilities or hospitals. We have been working on this for several months now in parallel with loading in Medicare hospital data. Also, cost report viewing in the browser has now been revamped to include easier controls on the bottom right.  We hope the new site makes it easier for users to manage their data and find new data that they didn’t know we provided.

We will continue to add new data on a more frequent basis and will include updates about it on this blog. This is in part because the blog is now included on the user dashboard so it is now more prominent when a user is browsing the site.
